Quintron Selected to Provide Communications System to Support
NATO Tank Combat Training Maneuvers
Santa Maria, CA (March 20, 2007) – Quintron, the recognized leader in advanced interoperable voice systems and physical access control/intrusion detection systems, announced today that the Quintron DICES IV interoperable communications system was purchased by a Major U.S. Prime Contractor to support NATO tank combat training maneuvers in Hohenfels, Germany. It was selected to replace an existing DICES III system configured in 1998 that was upgraded from a DICES II originally shipped in 1991. Site personnel opted for Quintron based on superior product performance and proven support demonstrated over the past 15 years.
This DICES IV system is configured for 90 end user stations and up to 192 radio links. The high-quality and responsive links to field command radios, along with multi-channel access to simulation controllers at the central command center made this the system of choice for the U.S. Prime and the end user community. In addition to the standard DICES IV system, Quintron supplied two special software adaptations allowing remote control of DICES system components by customer computers and the ability to send a specific command to new site trunked radios to close-down open communications channels rapidly to facilitate immediate availability for other operators.
There was also a very tight window for complete system changeover due to ongoing training rotations at this site. The conversion was completed within two weeks, including connection and testing to all operator keysets and radios. Mission support was maintained with no lost time and this completely updated system is now configured to provide another 10-year lifecycle support period.
